Flying car is in real now

Flying cars aren't just science fiction anymore. Woburn, Mass.-based Terrafugia Inc. said on Monday that its prototype flying car has completed its first flight, bringing the company closer to its goal of selling the flying.

The vehicle - dubbed the Transition - has two seats, four wheels and wings that fold up so it can be driven like a car. Last month, it flew at 1,400 feet for eight minutes. Commercial jets fly at 35,000 feet. It's expected to cost $279,000. And it won't help if you're stuck in traffic. The car needs a runway.

Nissan unveils batmobile like race car

This is the DeltaWing, a Nissan-powered race car that will run in this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans as an experiment. Its creators aren't chasing a victory so much as a validation that their ideas could make racing better. Think of it as a Batmobile for the race track. The rocket-shaped DeltaWing looks that way because it's built less like a traditional race car and more like a land-speed racer that can also turn.

Built by a consortium of racing firms and suppliers headed by designer Ben Bowlby and endurance racing backer Don Panos, the DeltaWing was created as a possible alternative to IndyCars. When Indy racing decided to stick with a more traditional design, the DeltaWing's backers looked for other opportunities to prove their concept.

Mean machine Lamborghini Ankonian concept car

The Lamborghini Ankonian is a concept car by the Italian car maker, Lamborghini. Designed by designer Slavche Tanevsky, the Ankonian is a more aggressive version of Lamborghini's supercar, the Reventón. To make it more environmentally friendly, it is downsized; although it does not include any hybrid technology. The Ankonian is a mid engine sports car; and like most Lamborghini models, its name has some relation to bullfighting. This concept looks as if it was modeled off of a stealth jet fighter. It is not certain that the Ankonian will go into production.

Designer Tanevsky noted that his design goal was to take the Reventón design language to the "next level", strengthening the Reventón's agressivenes with 'underground' and 'hardcore' themes; The design achieves this using triangular forms and with the color combinations shiny black and matt dark grey.

Impressive EN-V for tomorrow's traffic congestion

GM is exploring several solutions for tomorrow’s drivers. Among the most promising is a new vehicle called EN-V short for Electric Networked-Vehicle, maintains the core principle of personal mobility – freedom.EN-V is a two-seat electric vehicle that was designed to alleviate concerns surrounding traffic congestion, parking availability, air quality and affordability for tomorrow’s cities.EN-V is propelled by electric motors in each of its two driving-mode wheels.

Power for the motors is provided by lithium-ion batteries that produce zero emissions. By combining the Global Positioning System (GPS) with vehicle-to-vehicle communications and distance-sensing technologies, the EN-V concept can be driven both manually and autonomously. Its autonomous operating capability offers the promise of reducing traffic congestion by allowing EN-V to automatically select the fastest route based on real-time traffic information.
