2nd Test: Shikhar Dhawan becomes 2nd Indian opener to score fifty-plus score in Wellington

Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan scored a half-century on Day 1 of the second Test at Wellington and became the second Indian after Gautam Gambhir to do so. (Day 1 Report | Highlights | Scorecard)

# Shikhar Dhawan is the first Indian opener to register a fifty in the first innings of the Wellington Test. Overall, he is the second Indian opener to record an innings of fifty-plus score at Wellington. Gautam Gambhir had registered 167 in the second innings of the 2008-09 Test.

# Shikhar Dhawan, for the first time, has posted successive innings of fifty-plus in Tests - 115 at Auckland and 71 not out at Wellington.

# During the course of his superb Wellington knock, Dhawan has completed his 500 runs in seven Tests - his tally being 505 in ten innings at an average of 56.11, including two hundreds and a fifty.

# Dhawan has managed 186 runs at an average of 93.00 in three innings - the highest by an Indian batsman in the present series.
